When I joined Crossfit Stumptown I was the most out of shape I have ever been. I had gained 40 lbs in less than two years, bringing my weight to 180 lbs. I could not complete a 400 meter run without stopping or walking most of the way. I could only do wall pushups, and jumping pull ups. But I have always loved to challenge my self, and the intensity of the wods turned out to be really fun for me. I started to notice small improvements in the amount of weight I could use, my running got better, and over a year I lost the extra weight I had gained. What I love about this gym is that I can keep getting better at everything. When I reach one goal, there is always a new one. Jumping onto a 20” box was impossible at first, so I did step ups. Then I could jump up, but had to step down. Next I was jumping up and down, but had to stop between. Now I am able to do rebounding box jumps. But I could get faster! I also love the community atmosphere. Everyone pushes each other. The coaches know who you are, know your strengths and weaknesses, and help you train accordingly. I’ve never experienced such challenging workouts, and I’ve never loved working out more!
